Censorship on the Web
The internet is the largest resource for human knowledge that has ever been created. You can find virtually anything on the internet. However, governments in many countries of the world have laws that restrict access to content. These laws range from shutting down sites that contain child pornography to denying access to websites that speak out against government organizations. While censorship is usually associated with an oppressive government silencing its people, not all censorship is used as tool of oppression. Certain censorship laws in the US protect copyrighted material, or block pornographic websites in public libraries.
